JTM MultiMedia, Inc. has implemented new Spam Controls on our email server.

To upgrade your email account to the new standard, please follow these instructions.

 Step 1

  • Use a browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox) and go to Surgeweb:
Replace the xxxxxx.xxx with your domain name. Make sure you have the /surgeweb at the end.

  • Log in to Surgeweb with your email name and password.

 Step 2 Log in

  • Once logged in, select the Options menu in the upper right hand of the screen.

  • Select Preferences

Step 3 Decide which option is right for you.
Most people will want Option 1 with Spam Report enabled. If you are nopt sure, use Option 1.

Please read all options before choosing. Remember to SAVE, once you've made your selection.

Click on the Filtering & Spam Control link.

  • In the One step spam configuration:

  • If you pick up your email on a Blackberry or a cell phone, you will probably want to look at Option 1, & turn ON the email spam report.

Option 1 - Highly recommended: If you want to see only the good email that comes to you and want suspected Spam held, select :
Mark probable spam and deliver to Spam folder.
-

Make sure you click on Save.

Note: Go to Step 4 Below to
set up your Spam Report now (discussed below), so you don't have to log into Surgeweb to check you Spam email.

  • Option 2: If you want everything, Spam and all, select: DISABLED - no spam filtering done

    Note:
This option works well for web forms, or email addresses you have on your website for contact information and you don't want to miss a thing.
  • Option 3: If you want every email received delivered to your Inbox, but with suspected Spam marked in the Subject line, select :
Mark probable spam and deliver to Inbox.

Note: This option works well if you set up a Spam folder in your email client and create a filter to move all marked Spam to that Spam folder. This keeps all your Spam email local in your email client and you don't have to log into Webmail or Surgeweb to check Spam. Click here to set up your email client filter.

  • Option 4: If you use Webmail or Surgeweb as your primary email client, select Option 4: Challenge almost certain spam, mark likely spam RECOMMENDED.

Note: This option places suspected spam in your Spam folder in Webmail and Surgeweb and uses the Friends challenge system to check Most Likely Spam items.

NOTE: Once you've selected your Option, make sure you click on the Save button.

Email Spam Report

If you chose Option 1 - Mark probable spam and deliver to Spam folder, above, then this new feature is very important.

If you use an email client like Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail, etc., you will like this. The server will email a report of all your spam collected. This allows you to check on Spam or Friends held messages without having to log into Webmail or Surgeweb! They are all listed on the email, with links so you can either Send to Inbox, View, Delete or Block the held message. You can have these emails sent to you everyday.

Click here for a full size report example.

The report will also give you a summary of ALL your emails - either delivered, held or rejected - since the last report.

Note: Once you get your first Spam Staus Report, if you have a Warning: that messages are being held in Spam Held, you can log into the Old Webmail system and check them out there. After making the above changes, no more spam will be delivered to the Spam Held folder in the old webmail. If you just ignore this warning, it will eventually go away, as the Spam Held emails are only held 14 days.

If you don't want to receive the Spam Status emails, you are done with the recommended changes. You can close windows and log out of Surgeweb.

If you Selected Option 1 - Mark probable spam and deliver to Spam folder above - please continue with Step 4.

Spam Status emails

 Step 4

  • If you want delivery of the Spam Status Message, click on the delivery log link.

Step 5

  • On the Log page, Select how often you want to receive the Spam Staus Emails. (Every '1' days is recommended.)

Anything over 7 days will not work, as Spam helds are automatically cleared after 14 days.

 Step 6

  • Next, decide if you want the message sent in HTML (recommended) or plain text.

  • Check 'box' - List all pending messages (normally only new messages since last email are listed).

  • After making your selections, make sure you click on the Save button.

You are done. You can close windows and log out of Surgeweb.
